We invite you to become an active member of the Centreville High School Drama Boosters! Our purpose is to “promote, support and create interest in the areas of Theatre among the students, faculty and community.” We provide both human resources and financial support to Theatre Centreville by operating ticket and refreshment booths at CVHS performances, helping with publicity, playbill production, providing meals for cast and crew during set construction and performance-week rehearsals, chaperoning competitions and trips as needed, and enthusiastically attending the great shows that Theatre Centreville performs! With the money we raise, we’re able to award scholarships to recognize outstanding theatre program graduates as well as help fund other program needs. Our primary fundraiser is the annual White House ornament sale. We also derive income from membership dues and proceeds from the sale of refreshments and Break-a-leg-a-grams at the performances. Since the 2004-2005 school year, we have partnered with the Mia Saunders Dance Company fo the December performance of The Nutcracker at CVHS. Sometimes, we are able to joint venture with the Alliance Summer Community Theater or other similar groups. These joint ventures provide another avenue of fund-raising.
We are exceedingly fortunate to have so many dedicated and talented drama students at Centreville High School and they need our help to make Theatre Centreville the best it can be. Theatre Centreville puts on a Fall show, a Spring show (typically a musical, every other year), competes in the Virginia Theatre Association One Act Play Festival every Fall, competes in the Virginia High School League One Act Festival in the winter, presents the much-anticipated student-directed Dramapalooza One Acts every February, as well as conducts their own version of the Tony Awards (the Thespie Awards) Ceremony at the end of the school year. Theatre students are also invited to write reviews of other high school plays throughout the school year. It is a busy and exciting year! We’d love to have you join!
